Reporting to the EVP, Chief Financial Officer, this position has system level responsibility for accounting, financial reporting, treasury and cash flow management, system operational and capital budgeting, decision support and cost accounting, business intelligence including data analytics and reporting, accounts payable, fiscal policy setting, corporate financial analysis, and the coordination of strategic financial planning for the organization.

- Provides overall financial leadership for the various operating entities within the system including financial accounting and reporting for Kaleida and our affiliates.
- Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls financial policies for the system to control receipt of revenue, expenditures of funds, and conservation of assets.
- Reviews and coordinates the financial and statistical reporting.
Responsible for the preparation of the operating results presentation provided to the various governance committees of the Board and for the oversight of the preparation of the monthly and annual financial results that include financial statement and operational analyses to key operational leadership groups,
- Makes recommendations to the EVP, CFO on operational improvement opportunities.
- Devises and recommends new or modified accounting systems to provide complete and accurate financial and statistical reporting.
- Responsible for the coordination and oversight of the preparation and review of the health system’s annual operating and capital budgets.
- Responsible for treasury management function and day-to-day cash flow management for entire system, management of over $1.7 billion in cash flow annually.
- Plans, coordinates, and provides guidance to staff for year-end audits conducted by the independent third party auditors and shall act as the lead finance professional on all actuarial engagements.
- Responsible for all financial regulatory compliance. (FHA, DOH, CMS, DASNY, Banks)
- Responsible to oversee and maintain all banking relationships.
- Analyzes and makes recommendations as to the adequacy of the organization’s operations in relationship to the cost of departmental operations.
- Responsible for the coordination of the system strategic financial planning (short-term and long-term).
- Keeps the EVP, CFO informed on status of all financial matters.
- Establishes and maintains financial record retention policies and procedures.
- Responsible for all applicable tax reporting for the system including all IRS and NYS tax filings (990’s, CHAR-500’s, 5500’s, 1065’s, 1120’s)
- Keeps aware of the available information systems to meet the needs of the finance department.
- May actively participate in a variety of industry committees and groups outside the institution.
- Assists in recruitment of new personnel and evaluates all personnel under his/her supervision.
- Required to participate in community activities including but not limited to external board participation.
- Position will be required to actively participate in system wide initiatives, joint venture analyses and/or affiliation/acquisition projects.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a CPA required. Master’s degree in either accounting or business administration preferred but not required. Requires at least ten years of accounting experience of which five to seven years should be in a position of leadership/supervisory responsibility in healthcare finance. Public accounting and financial leadership experience in healthcare is preferred.

Senior Accountant

 

· Prepare and analyze complex financial information necessary for system and regulatory agency reporting requirements. Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts which require estimation and/or complex analysis to ensure asset protection and integrity of financial reporting.

 

· Assist with production of monthly financial statements to include: journal entry preparation, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset maintenance and analysis of complex financial information. Responsible for regular reporting duties which require high-level Excel skills.

 

·  Prepare monthly expense analysis.

 

·  Prepare annual audit schedules and address all related questions.

 

·  Assist in the monthly close procedures to achieve a timely and efficient process.

 

·  Provide financial analysis as requested.

 

· Perform other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required to meet emergencies.

Minimum or Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, MBA preferred. Demonstrate service excellence and positive relationships with all internal and external customers. Director Revenue Analysis

 

Kaleida Health’s Director of Revenue Reporting is primarily responsible to manage, develop, and implement the monthly and yearly revenue close, the revenue budget, coordinate the monthly revenue modeling,  and actual/budget revenue variance reporting for Kaleida Health and its affiliates.

 

·        Preparation of the annual budgeted net and gross patient revenues for Kaleida hospitals, nursing homes, ambulatory surgery centers and Kaleida affiliates. Develop, implement, and manage appropriate reporting operations to meet budgeting time lines.

 

·        Manage the activities necessary to identify, review and explain revenue variances between actual and budget on a monthly and YTD basis. This will include variances due to changes in patient volumes, reimbursement rates, DRG case mix and other trends as they may arise. Will meet monthly with the VP Finance and Senior VP Finance/CFO to explain revenue variances and trends. Assure accuracy and reporting of revenue on financial statements.

 

·        Manage monthly revenue close and ensure general ledger interfaces, general ledger account accuracy. Prepare revenue analysis reports for monthly site financial meetings. Responsible for third party settlement account reconciliation.

 

·        Revenue reporting activity with input from management and site finance staff. Demonstrates strategic thinking in reporting revenue trends to support the financial goals of Kaleida Health.

 

·        All aspects of revenue reporting as they related to the budget, billing system and general ledger. This will include management of the budgeting software, ensuring general ledger interfaces are working and that information appropriately captured.

 

·        Provide oversight of staff to support the preparation of the cost report, CMS audit and year end audit as they relate to revenue reporting.

 

·        Ensure completion of annual surveys for COTH, AHA, and GNYHA and for others as required. Support data collection and reporting for special projects.

 

Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration or Accounting required.  5 years’ experience in Healthcare Finance required. Demonstrates a broad and current knowledge of Third Payer Reimbursements and payment methodologies.

 

Certification from the Healthcare Financial Management Association is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent project management skills.
